  1. The coins look too dark. Should have left off the shades and instead went with a darker gold as a base, then moved to a lighter golds with a dry brushing.

    1. It was a limited run model not many were made I got mine on Amazon… They can get really expensive so keep an eye out and try and snag one cheap.

  2. I like the shading. I think it gives a perfect Dungeon by torchlight feel. I can’t wait to see the finished model.

    1. I have seen gold coins in real life and gold neither tarnishes nor rusts (oxidizes). It picks up grime from being handled. Even coins from the Roman era do not look this dark, even in a low light conditions (ie, by torchlight). As I said, it’s too dark. Better to have used a darker gold as the base and then highlight with dry brushing a lighter gold.

Likewise, if it was truly a dark situation, the chests should be darker as well (they’re not). This is why I say that the coins are just too dark.

  3. Hey MWG … I’m looking to do a patina effect on some LoTr models, did anyone ever do this effect or even have a good uTube video to ref? … Thanks, Walts
